Opera Resets Cloud Sync Passwords After Attack
Web Services
Opera Software reset the passwords for its synchronization service after a breach of its cloud servers, reports The Hacker News.
Opera’s Cloud Sync service stores browser data including login names, passwords and other data to allow users to save settings across multiple products. On Aug. 26, Opera Security announced it had detected signs of an attack on that system.
“This attack was quickly blocked,” the blog post said. “Our investigations are ongoing, but we believe some data, including some of our sync users’ passwords and account information, such as login names, may have been compromised.”
Opera reset all passwords as a precaution, though the blog post states users may want to change the stored password information for other sites as “an abundance of precaution.”
