DHS cyber shop seeks CTO
A key cyber hub at the National Protection and Programs Directorate is looking for a top tech officer.
The Department of Homeland Security's cyber and communications infrastructure department is looking for an expert to help it with technology oversight and strategies.
DHS posted a notice on USAJobs for a chief technology officer in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Communications, which is part of DHS' National Protection and Programs Directorate in Arlington, Va.
The listing closes Aug. 25. The position pays $124,406 to $187,000 per year.
The CTO, according to the listing, contributes to the strategic direction of the organization by identifying specific technologies that help or impact CS&C's mission.
The position also oversees technology integration across CS&C components, develops strategies to use technology and sets up technology governance rules. The CTO provides technical expertise to broadband communication programs including priority services programs, ensures modeling and analysis capability development supports cybersecurity, information infrastructure and emergency communications mission requirements, identifies emerging technologies for communications interoperability, tracks identification and mitigation of electromagnet pulse and related vulnerabilities,
Additionally, the CTO leads communications and cyber research and development coordination activities, as well as develops a roadmap for CS&C information architecture and technology.
