Former DHS cyber official joins Acuity

Danny Toler, a former key cybersecurity official at the Department of Homeland Security, has been tapped for a top executive position at a Washington-area federal management and consulting firm.

Toler served as deputy assistant secretary for Cybersecurity and Communications the National Protection and Programs Directorate. He retired from DHS in mid-August.

In a Sept. 20 announcement Reston, Va.-based Acuity, Inc. said it had appointed Toler senior vice president of its Diplomatic Portfolio and Cyber Practice. Toler will be responsible for leading Acuity's cybersecurity practice and driving new business growth for its foreign affairs business portfolio.

Acuity provides management and technology consulting services to the federal government and holds listed on contract vehicles such as DHS EAGLE II, GSA IT Schedule 70 and GSA 8(a) Stars II.

While at DHS, Toler was responsible for implementing Cybersecurity Act of 2015 rules and duties. He won Fed 100 honors in 2015 for his procurement work on the Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program.

Before joining DHS, Toler worked for 12 years at the State Department as director of the Office of Enterprise Network Management and division chief of Network Engineering and Design, supporting over 300 agency locations worldwide
