NPPD taps vendor for No. 2 role

The National Protection and Programs Directorate, the cybersecurity arm of the Department of Homeland Security, has tapped Matthew Travis for deputy undersecretary, FCW has learned.

Travis has a history of working with DHS. He was until recently listed as vice president of the Cadmus Group, a Boston-based firm that provides technical and strategic advice to government and commercial clients, including on homeland security matters.

An employee in the Cadmus Group’s Washington D.C. office confirmed that Travis left his position at the company last week. A government source told FCW that acting NPPD Undersecretary Christopher Krebs announced the move yesterday.

Travis will take over for acting deputy undersecretary Robert Kolasky. The hire continues to fill out the NPPD leadership team. Krebs was nominated for the undersecretary post in February 2018.
