Here’s Your Federal RSA Rundown

Government’s top cybersecurity agencies descended on San Francisco Monday morning for a fed-heavy RSA Cybersecurity Conference.

While federal cyber pros will be speaking and exhibiting their technologies throughout the weeklong conference, Monday is the official “public sector day.”

It will include panel discussions on the Homeland Security Department’s continuous monitoring and diagnostics program and the cybersecurity framework developed by the Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology.

Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen will speak Tuesday and “lay out the [department’s] cybersecurity priorities and policies in addition to addressing the cyber threats affecting the United States today,” according to a news release.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency will host a Thursday panel on cyber deterrence.

On Friday, a quintet of government panelists and moderators will address supply chain cybersecurity, which is a hot topic for Homeland Security this year. The panel’s title: Hello, Moscow. Greetings, Beijing. Addressing Risk in Your IT Supply Chain.”

Throughout the conference, Homeland Security’s science and technology division will be demonstrating 13 cyber technologies developed by companies, universities and other non-government groups with Homeland Security starter funding. The technologies include:

• An app that automatically runs cyber health checks on any new network a mobile device connects to.
• A system that uses machine learning to analyze network traffic in real time and block privacy leaks.
• A cloud service that scores telephone calls in real time to identify if they’re real, spoofed or part of a telephone denial-of-service attack.
