Rhoda M.G. Davis, director of the Office of Strategic Management and senior information resources management official at the Social Security Administration, plans to retire March 1.

Davis, who assisted in managing major technology upgrades at SSA, will be the second key information technology executive to leave the agency in less than a year. Renato DiPentima, deputy commissioner for systems, retired last summer to take a position in private industry with Systems Research and Applications.

SSA Commissioner Shirley Chater has not named Davis' replacement. Davis has pointed to Carolyn Shearin-Jones, acting deputy director of the Office of Strategic Management, as the person with the experience to take over her role.

For the past year and a half Davis managed the disability process re-engineering process at SSA. Under that effort, the agency will rely heavily on technology to significantly cut the amount of time individuals wait to be processed for disability claims.
