GTSI expands NIH product line

Government Technology Services Inc. has expanded its product offerings on the National Institutes of Health Electronic Computer Store contract.

GTSI has added computers from Dell Computer Corp., Apple Computer Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc. to the contract. The additions will provide buyers access to Intel Corp., Macintosh and reduced instruction-set computing Unix workstation technology on one contract. The Electronic Computer Store deal is the first Health and Human Services contract that lets non-HHS agencies buy from it so all government buyers have access to the new products.

Dell's full line of desktop, laptop and tower PCs; Apple desktop, laptop and peripheral products; and a growing range of Sun workstations are available on the contract. GTSI said its Electronic Computer Store pact marks the first time that both Macintosh and Intel-based PCs were available on the same contract.

The U.S. Naval Reserve was the first non-HHS agency to issue an order on the contract, according to GTSI.

The other Electronic Computer Store contractors are AmeriData Federal Systems, BTG Inc., Electronic Data Systems Corp., FDC Technologies, GCG Computers, ICN, Laptops Etc., McBride and Associates, MSA, ACE, Daly Computers, Digicon Corp., International Data Products Corp., Multimax, Northstar Systems and Win Laboratories Inc. The contracts were awarded last October [FCW, Oct. 9, 1995].
