Industry, IT execs leave long-held posts

A number of industry and agency information technology executives recently announced departures from long-held positions.

William Hoover was named executive vice president of systems integrator BDM International Inc. and president and chief executive officer of BDM Federal Inc. He had been president of PRC Inc.

He succeeds Philip Odeen, who, besides holding the title of president and chief executive of BDM International, had also been president and CEO of BDM Federal.

PRC last week named Leonard Pomata, who had been senior vice president and general manager of PRC's systems integration business unit, as its president.

George Coulbourn last week said he will retire from Boeing Information Services July 1, where he has been vice president for advanced programs. A longtime industry advocate with the Information Technology Association of America, Coulbourn said he decided to retire to pursue personal interests but added that he plans remain active in industry as a consultant.

Two weeks ago Marvin Gordon, director of government relations at Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Data Systems and Services Division, retired from the company. He also plans to consult, industry sources said.

Frank McDonough, deputy associate administrator for IT at the General Services Administration, will leave his post early next month for a newly created position within GSA.

In his new role, McDonough will serve as deputy associate administrator for intergovernmental IT solutions, responsible for monitoring IT developments in international, state and local governments and determining if they have any application at the federal level.

McDonough said his decision to change hats was due in part to the shrinking role of his organization in governmentwide IT policy and oversight.

Fred Sims, GSA's assistant deputy associate administrator for IT, has been chosen to fill McDonough's position.
