Intergraph debuts NT machines

Intergraph Computer Systems, Huntsville, Ala., today will introduce a new generation of its Microsoft Corp. Windows NT-based TDZ 3-D graphics workstations, which incorporate the vendor's new RealiZm 3-D graphics accelerators.

TDZ workstations are available with one (TDZ-310), two (TDZ-410) or four (TDZ-610) 200 MHz Pentium Pro processors. Each configuration comes with an Ultra SCSI disk subsystem, an integrated 10/100Base-TX Ethernet controller and an 8X CD-ROM.

The models follow Intergraph's TDZ 400, a dual-processor 150 MHz Pentium Pro machine that was introduced last year. The TDZ 400's federal government applications have included battlefield simulation.

Intergraph's RealiZm accelerator, which comes in three models, provides true-color modeling and animation at resolutions between 1 million and 2.5 million pixels.

The new accelerator includes Intergraph's RenderGL, a set of OpenGL graphics extensions for creating 3-D models with such photo-realistic features as Phong shading, bump maps and 3-D texturing, the vendor said.

Pricing for the new TDZ workstations, which will be available in August, begins at $9,995 for the TDZ-310 with one 200 MHz Pentium Pro processor, RealiZm Z-10 graphics, 32M of memory, a 1G hard disk and the Windows NT operating system.
