The Commerce Department's National Technical Information Service (NTIS) now manages and disseminates a collection of guides and documents from the General Services Administration's Office of Governmentwide Policy.

Documents from the information technology and capital planning section collections are available from NTIS in print via fax on demand and shortly on-line. NTIS also offers a subscription service that automatically sends subscribers updates to documents.

NTIS will charge for the documents.

The collection which will be available only from NTIS includes: "A Guide for Acquiring Systems Integration Services" "A Guide for Acquiring Software Development Services" "A Guide for Evaluating Proposals and Bids" "Alternatives to Grand Design for Systems Modernization" and "Federal Government Business Process Reengineering: Lessons Learned."

The pact will save GSA $250 000 a year said Bob Carey an ADP and telecommunications program analyst at GSA's Office of Governmentwide Policy.

It is significant according to NTIS because GSA typically handles its own document collection and dissemination. NTIS will administer publish distribute and ensure permanent availability of GSA's collections.
