To provide users with Internet access to its public library system, the state of Tennessee recently selected Auto-Graphics Inc., Pomona, Calif., to design and operate a Web-based library catalog and inter-library loan system, complete with Internet access for users.
Over 200 libraries across the state will use the online system to share resources. The Tennessee State Library and Archives (TSLA) began garnering support for library automation in 1990. Partial funding for the project was supplied by a 1995 National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) grant, which put 95 counties within Tennessee online as Tennessee Access Point/Internet Node sites.
