Navy selects 13 for $250M in services

The Naval Information Systems Management Center (NISMC) last week awarded blanket purchase agreements worth $250 million to 13 vendors under its Information Technology Support Services program.

BPAs were awarded late on June 26 to 13 companies that submitted quotes for the ITSS program said Cmdr. Phil Graham a resource manager at NISMC. He said the total life-cycle value of ITSS is $250 million and that the BPAs will run for up to five years. The BPAs will provide a broad range of technical services for the Navy and all Defense Department components Graham said.

The Navy did not make available last week the names of the winning vendors but two companies confirmed receiving awards: Booz-Allen & Hamilton Inc. and Science Applications International Corp. A spokeswoman for SAIC said the company has been notified of the award and is teaming with six partners: Government Micro Resources Inc. KPMG Peat Marwick Lucent Technologies Inc. Metters Industries Inc. OAO Corp. and RJO Enterprises Inc.

A Lockheed Martin Federal Systems spokesman confirmed that the company bid on ITSS but was not aware that awards had been made.

Other that have expressed interest in ITSS but could not be reached for comment include CACI Inc. Computer Sciences Corp. IBM Corp. Litton/PRC Inc. and Northrop Grumman Corp.'s Data Systems and Services Division.ITSS is the second multiple-award services-oriented BPA to be awarded in recent months. In May the Navy awarded the Tactical Advanced Computer-Enterprise Solutions program to CSC Lockheed Martin Litton/PRC and SAIC. The program calls for vendors to provide shipboard technology solutions under the Navy's Information Technology for the 21st Century program.

ITSS required bidders to hold a General Services Administration professional services schedule.
