Microsoft, Wang expand partnership

Microsoft Corp. and Wang Global have expanded their alliance for developing solutions based on Microsoft technology, the two companies announced today.

As part of the deal, Wang plans to train and certify 2,500 Wang employees as Microsoft certified systems engineers and Microsoft certified solutions providers. Wang also will open Centers of Excellence in Billerica, Mass., and overseas to showcase technology, and the company will establish Technology Integration Labs to design and test solutions.

The alliance will focus on five areas: migration to Microsoft 32-bit technologies; networking, messaging and intranet infrastructure; strategic Internet and electronic commerce applications; comprehensive networked technology services; and component-based vertical applications.

The two companies originally formed a partnership in 1995.
