Wang agrees to purchase by Dutch firm

The Air Force last week awarded three contracts for highpowered, rugged portable computers to Cytec Corp,. Government Technology Services Inc. and Inacom Government Systems.

Wang Global today announced it has accepted a $2 billion offer from a Dutch computer services company.

Wang Global's board voted to accept Getronics NV's offer of $29.25 per share, a 39 percent increase over the 30-day average price of Wang Global shares, according to Wang Global, based in Billerica, Mass. Getronics is one of Europe's largest computer services companies.

The combined company will have annual revenue of about $5 billion, 33,000 employees and operations in more than 44 countries, according to Wang Global.

Wang Global chairman and chief executive officer Joseph Tucci will join Getronics' management board. James Hogan, president of Wang Government Services, is meeting with employees today and could not be reached for comment.
