ESRI Launches Community Development GIS Grants Program

Redlands, Calif.-based geographic information systems company, Environmental Systems Research Institute Inc. announced a new program to make "grants" of software to help local governments develop programs to enhance the lives of citizens.
ESRI has started taking applications for 100 grants and training packages -- valued at $400,000 -- under its new community development and public works program. Community development is one of 10 community sectors ESRI is addressing in its Grants for Livable Communities effort to enhance GIS use into the local government sector.
Grant recipients will receive copies of the company's ArcView GIS, ArcView Spatial Analyst, ArcView StreetMap and other software programs.
