Paul Quade became the first chief information officer of Colorado in an announcement today by Gov. Bill Owens (R).

Starting Sept. 1, Quade will serve the state's Office of Innovation and Technology for 18 months under a "loaned executive" arrangement with Galileo International, an electronic services company specializing in the travel industry. Galileo, where Quade is a senior information technology executive, will continue to pay his salary during the loan period.
Quade also is former chairman of Colorado's Information Management Commission.
As CIO, Quade will be responsible for putting in place the governor's strategic IT agenda and will report to Secretary of Technology Marc Holtzman.
