Dell Computer Corp. announced last week that it now offers multiyear volume licensing agreements on Microsoft Corp. software bundled with Dell hardware.
The government integration agreement (GIA) with Microsoft, available via Dell's General Services Administration schedule, allows an agency to set up a discount deal for a customized software/hardware configuration. Vendors generally can offer volume licensing agreements through the GSA schedule only on specific configurations.
The new program was designed to allow agencies to define standards for software configurations, according to Dell. Under the GIA, the customer authorizes only one person to order computer systems and to serve as a single point of contact.
