Texas names new chief for TIERS

Donna Geller has been named the new director of the Lone Star state's Texas Integrated Eligibility Redesign System, effective today.

Geller will fill the now-vacant position left by Diane Scott, who stepped down to take a position at a nonprofit consulting firm, according to a TIERS spokeswoman.

The TIERS project, which is run by Texas' human services department, was created to improve the delivery of social service programs administered by the department. The project aims to replace several outdated automation systems with one centrally integrated system and to change the agency's business processes to improve the accuracy and the delivery of services to millions of Texans.

Geller has 25 years experience in state-administered health and human service programs, including 11 years in high-level management positions in Florida. During her career, Geller directed the design and implementation of Florida's first online and interactive eligibility solution for public assistance programs.

She will be supervised by Suzanne Biermann, executive sponsor for the TIERS project.
