Folio:, the magazine for magazines, gave FCW its 1999 Editorial Excellence Award for best government publication. Folio: judges entries on how well magazines meet the goal of delivering the kind of information they say their readers need. In its entry to Folio:, FCW editors said the magazine emphasizes providing a mix of hard breaking news and in-depth analyses in a concise, easy-to-digest format.
In awarding its gold award for the category, the judges said, "The material is technical, but the format is easy to digest. This is what a weekly trade should be."
Magazines submitted more than 400 entries to Folio: this year. Other winners included Road&Track, PC World, InfoWorld and Cigar Aficionado.
Folio:'s Editorial Excellence Award is the second major award FCW has received this year. This summer, FCW's World Wide Web site, www.fcw.com, received the gold award for best online news from the American Society of Business Press Editors.
