Avesta signs on with GTSI

Move will give the company's service management products more play in the federal government

Systems integrator GTSI will resell Avesta Technologies Inc.'s service management products to federal agencies, the companies announced last week.

GTSI will be the exclusive reseller of Avesta's Trinity and eWatcher software products under the NASA Scientific and Engineering Workstation Procurement and National Institutes of Health Electronic Computer Store II contracts. Avesta's products help organizations simulate, monitor and manage the levels of service delivered by their information technology infrastructures.

Trinity highlights problems with network devices and applications in real time and communicates them to the user.

"The software gives [users] the mechanism to see how resources work together to support the user application," said Helen Toth, vice president of marketing at Avesta. "We're helping to pinpoint the root cause of the problem and prioritize the problems. We can help the organization to figure out what fire to fight first."

Avesta's eWatcher focuses on Internet and intranet applications. It provides real-time monitoring of World Wide Web sites to ensure that user applications are working correctly, and it notifies the administrator immediately if there are any problems.

This move will increase Avesta's presence in the federal market. NIH and the U.S. Postal Service already use the company's products.
