Intel, the world's leading manufacturer of microprocessors, will release two new versions of its Pentium III mobile processors running at speeds of 600 MHz and more. What makes the processors different is the inclusion of a technology known as Intel SpeedStep, which is a new design that enables laptop users to toggle between optimum, desktop-like performance and battery-saving and efficiency mode.
Industry observers said the announcement should strike a chord with government users, because mobile computing is fast becoming a key part of everyday operations in every sector of the government, from the military to various civilian agencies.
