The City of Nampa, Idaho, recently selected Systems Consultants Inc. to provide a financial and management software solution, including revamping the payroll/human services and utility management processes.

The St. Louis-based company (www.sci-gateway.com) will install several financial applications on a Windows NT server from Unisys Corp. The new system will streamline many of the city's financial applications including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger and centralized cash receipting. It will replace inefficient financial software that was not meeting the city's growing needs, said Nampa's finance director Jerry Gunstream.

"Our city's population has grown 76 percent in the last nine years and our needs have increased with the way we do business," Gunstream said. "We've just started the initial phases of training and getting the technical support up to speed, but we expect the new software will help us do a better job more cost effectively and efficiently."

The contract, signed last month, is valued at about $600,000. The process should take about six months to complete, Gunstream said.
