IT the agenda for New Hampshire board

A newly created power committee in New Hampshire will evaluate the state's

technology game plan and develop ways to improve it.

Gov. Jeanne Shaheen last week created the Information Technology Strategic

Planning Commission, giving seats to state business and government leaders.

"I am charging the commission with developing a plan for how New Hampshire

can better use and manage information technology to improve the efficiency

of state government and provide the very best services we can to our citizens,"

Shaheen said in a statement.

Among other things, the commission will review:

* How people access state information and services.

* How the state's information technology systems connect to each other

and with customers.

*Staffing and training.

* The value the state gets from its information technology investments.

* Security and privacy.

The commission is scheduled to complete a strategic plan by September.

Meanwhile, in New Hampshire, the state has received a $1.5 million federal

grant to train high-tech workers and help companies retrain their existing

workers. The Labor Department awarded the grant to New Hampshire's Job Training

Council.
