PTI and NIC partner on local e-gov solutions
Public Technology Inc. plans to work with the National Information Consortium, an online government services provider, to develop and market electronic government solutions for cities and counties
A nonprofit organization that works with local government to advance the use of technology has endorsed an online government services provider for municipalities to use.
Public Technology Inc. (PTI), a nonprofit technology organization for cities and counties nationwide, and National Information Consortium Inc. (NIC), based in Overland Park, Kan., have agreed to a 12-month "work plan," which will include a meeting of city and county government officials on policy, management and technology issues related to e-government, the organizations announced Tuesday.
The partnership with PTI will enable NIC to expand its state and federal government portal and online services into the local government market.
"PTI's support of NIC will help us create better value by ensuring that we respond rapidly to local governments' growing demand for eGovernment applications and solutions," said Jim Dodd, NIC president and chief executive officer. "PTI's seal of approval is powerful validation of our model, and we are honored to be working with them."
"There are four elements of the NIC solution that will benefit local government," said PTI's president and chief executive officer Costis Toregas. "The model offers an enterprisewide solution, effective policy control by the government, an opportunity to increase efficiencies and no capital expenditure. We believe a new model for the digital citizenry will emerge from this effort."
