Take your politics online

Pledging "two-click activism," Grassroots.com, a World Wide Web site designed to foster political action from citizens and government candidates, was unveiled last week.

"What makes us fundamentally different is that we give citizens the tools to become informed, organize themselves and then to take action," said Craig Johnson, Grassroots.com's interim chief executive officer and co-founder.

The privately held, nonpartisan company has an impressive list of political heavyweights on its advisory board, including former White House press secretary Mike McCurry, and John Sununu, the former governor of New Hampshire and chief of staff during the Bush administration. The most recent addition was announced last week: Geraldine Ferraro, the former Democratic vice presidential nominee and current president of the Women's Issues Center.

The site enables politicians from the federal to the local level to establish a central Web presence. It also includes news coverage of campaigns and government as well as technology and business.

Grassroots.com's "Take Action" links enable citizens to try to effect political change at the federal, state or local level by forming groups, making donations and locating others with similar concerns.
