Commerce official heads to industry

Gary Bachula, deputy undersecretary for technology at the Commerce Department's
Technology Administration, is leaving his post April 7 to explore job opportunities
in the private sector.
Bachula led efforts to build stronger partnerships between federal research
and development agencies and state technology programs.
He also served as vice chairman of the National Science and Technology Council's
Committee on Technology, was a member of the Interagency Global Positioning
System executive board and held various other positions.
A replacement for Bachula has not been named.
