Newgaard leaving Compaq
VP for federal sales and marketing is negotiating with several other firms
Gary Newgaard, vice president of sales and marketing at Compaq Computer
Corp.'s federal division, announced this week he would resign effective
March 10.
Newgaard, who has been with Compaq for 15 years, would not elaborate on
his decision to leave, other than to say he would be "pursuing personal
interests." Those close to Newgaard said he was in negotiations with several
companies and had not yet made a decision on where he will be going.
"[Newgaard's] leadership and his knowledge of the government IT market have
driven Compaq's outstanding performance in the federal IT space," said Don
Weatherson, president of Compaq Federal. "It is with regret that I have
accepted [his] resignation."
An interim successor will be appointed shortly, and Newgaard's resignation
should not affect Compaq's ability to "continue to deliver industry-leading
products, services and solutions to federal government customers," Weatherson
said.
