Virginia names deputy secretary of technology
Bette Dillehay worked her way to Virginia's No. 2 technology position by leading the state's Year 2000 efforts
Bette Dillehay, Virginia's authority for dealing with the Year 2000 rollover,
on Wednesday was named the commonwealth's deputy secretary of technology
by Gov. James Gilmore.
"As director of the Century Date Change Initiative, Bette's leadership was
instrumental to the commonwealth's smooth transition into the 21st century,"
Gilmore said in a release. "In her new role, I am confident she will continue
to foster the commonwealth's high-tech initiatives."
Dillehay began serving as the director of the CDCI in March of 1998 and
was responsible for ensuring the continuity of critical state services throughout
the Year 2000 effort. Before that she served as a state data administrator
for the Council on Information Management.
In her new position, Dillehay will serve under Virginia's Secretary of Technology
Don Upson.
