Baltimore Tech acquires CyberTrust

Baltimore Technologies last month completed its acquisition of CyberTrust

Solutions Inc., a key player in a recent initiative to help agencies exchange

sensitive data over the Internet.

CyberTrust is working with agencies on the Federal Bridge Certification

Authority project, which is designed to allow agencies to link their individual

public-key infrastructure systems. Eventually, the project will make it

possible for agencies to communicate with private-sector organizations.

Baltimore Technologies — which specializes in PKI systems, wireless

e-security solutions and cryptographic toolkits — finalized its acquisition

of CyberTrust from GTE Corp. March 28.

GE IT Solutions closes federal division

GE Information Technology Solutions announced last week that it has

withdrawn from the General Services Administration's multiple-award schedule

contract and will close its federal division.

As part of a companywide realignment, GE IT Solutions decided to target

small to midsize businesses and close its GE IT Solutions Federal Systems

Division, according to a company spokesman.

The federal offices, located in Gaithersburg, Md., will remain open

until June to fill open orders, and customer service staff will be available

through the end of the year.

Andersen forms Government Ventures group

In an effort to keep up with "Internet time," Andersen Consulting is

establishing a Global Government Ventures and New Business Models unit.

The new unit will focus on the needs of public agencies as they transition

to e-government, according to Martin Cole, managing partner of the new unit.
