Force 3 Inc., a network solutions provider, last week announced a partnership with Peregrine Systems Inc., which specializes in infrastructure management.

Force 3 (www.force3.com) designs, distributes and installs networks and systems, and provides on-site support to its customers, which include the Air Force and the National Institutes of Health.

Peregrine (www.peregrine.com) offers infrastructure management solutions to public- and private-sector customers, addressing areas such as information technology, buildings and transportation fleets.

Force 3 will provide engineering and integration services for Peregrine products while maintaining its expertise in the bandwidth enhancement, network design and installation, and network security, said Rocky Cintron, Force 3's president and chief executive officer.

"This solution will help the government reduce their [total cost of ownership] on IT, brick/mortar buildings and real estate, and fleet assets," Cintron said.

Dick Salva, vice president and operating manager of Peregrine Federal Systems Inc., said Peregrine prefers to utilize partnerships when working with the federal government. He echoed Cintron's comments about what the deal will mean to agencies.

"The federal government looks for those types of solutions that offer a positive mission impact and cost avoidance because they lead to well-informed decisions," Salva said, adding that the two companies have started to talk with potential government customers and have received nothing but positive feedback from federal representatives since the announcement was made last week.

"Force 3 has customers in both the federal and commercial community, but has a larger customer base today in the federal space in the medical community, network systems and security areas," Salva said. "We're very excited about the partnership because it offers us a very lucrative customer base and Force 3's wealth of engineering and integration services."
