Environmental Violations in Delaware Spotlight
Delaware Gov. Thomas Carper has directed the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control to post information about environmental violations on its World Wide Web site.
Delaware Gov. Thomas Carper has directed the Department of Natural Resources
and Environmental Control to post information about environmental violations
on its World Wide Web site.
"In the past, for environmental violations, a press release wasn't always
issued," said Anthony Farina, the governor's press secretary.
"Now, when an organization breaks an environmental regulation, it will
automatically be posted on the Web site."
Current violations are posted online in the form of press releases linked
to DNREC's Web site, www.dnrec.state.de.us. DNREC Webmaster Mike Polo said
that once he is given past violations, they will be posted as soon as possible
in chart form.
Farina said posting environmental violations online is part of Carper's
plan to "provide better services and information for Delaware residents."
