New CD charts transportation

Transportation Department releases data sets of transportation facilities nationwide

The Transportation Department on Monday released an updated set of geographicdatabases of transportation facilities nationwide.

The National Transportation Atlas Databases 2000 CD-ROM contains datafrom all of DOT's operating units. It provides transportation planners andresearchers with valuable information for more than 20 data sets, includingthe National Highway Planning Network, public use airports, railway networksand congressional district boundaries.

It is available in DOS/Windows and Unix formats from the Bureau of TransportationStatistics at (202) 366-DATA or www.bts.gov/btsprod.

The databases most often are used for research, analysis and decision-makingacross all modes of transportation, according to the department. They aremost useful at the national level but have major applications at regional,state and local levels throughout the transportation community.
