Maryland hires State Technology Coordinator
Former utilities engineer joins economic development agency
Maryland has hired a new State Technology Coordinator for the Department
of Business and Economic Development, filling the department's top technology
post, which has been vacant since the fall.
In her position, Cherise Seals will serve as an advisor to Richard Lewin,
secretary of business and economic development, and work as a liaison for
the department with technology companies and the Maryland Technology Development
Co, which promotes high-tech development in the state.
Her top priority will be implementing the state strategic plan of nurturing
and growing the state's technology industry.
Seals previously served as a senior engineer at Baltimore Gas and Electric
Co., where she was responsible for the design and engineering of the electrical
services supplied to the utility's larges industrial and commercial customers.
She also served as project coordinator and account executive on Baltimore's
PSI Net Stadium project and on former Baltimore mayor Kurt Schmoke's energy
taskforce.
Seals begins June 26, replacing David Weiss, who left in the fall.
