Task force may recommend $10M for training

A presidential task force is expected to recommend new millions to help agencies fund training technologies and programs

A presidential task force is expected to request millions of dollars to

help agencies fund training technologies and programs when it makes its

recommendations next month.

The task force may recommend a $10 million appropriation that would go into

a training technology innovation fund, said E.B. Blanton, executive director

of the Task Force for Federal Training Technology, which the president established

18 months ago. Agencies would use the seed money to support research and

development and start-up costs, he said.

Other likely recommendations that the task force will submit to the president

in mid-July include the need for a one-stop shop for federal agencies to

promote and accelerate the use of technology-based training solutions. This

would showcase for agencies the latest in training technologies, said Blanton,

speaking Wednesday at the Training and Technology in Government 2000 conference

in Washington, D.C.
