Xerox beefs up printers

Xerox Corp. today launched five new members of its Document Centre family

of digital copiers/printers, all designed to make it easier to send, store

and access digital information.

The company's 400 series can print, copy, batch scan and fax from 20

to 65 pages per minute. The units contain a 4.5G disk drive that allows

more than 100 print jobs to be stored at one time and a 366 MHz Intel Corp.

Celeron microprocessor to accelerate document throughput.

The new products promise to reduce costs, facilitate knowledge sharing

and accelerate the work progress, accordingn to Kevin Stephens, vice president

of marketing in Xerox's office document products group.

The products are also easy to manage remotely through support of third-party

management systems such as Novell Inc.'s Network Enterprise Print Services,

Computer Associates International Inc.'s Unicenter TNG and Tivoli Systems

Inc.'s software.
