The Transportation Department's Strategic Plan for 2000-2005 describes how

the agency will protect its critical information systems.

n By Sept. 30, the Office of the Chief Information Officer will develop

an overall Information Technology Security Program Plan for the entire agency.

* By Sept. 30, DOT will provide security awareness training to all its

workforce.

* By March 30, 2001, operating administrations will develop an overall

strategy for ensuring their IT assets comply with Office of Management and

Budget Circular A-130, which in part directs agencies to develop security

controls for systems based on the level of risk the systems are facing and

their vulnerabilities.

* By Sept. 30, 2001, DOT will assess, test and certify 25 percent of

its IT assets.
