EDS wins big in Oklahoma, Colorado

Oklahoma and Colorado awarded contracts to Electronic Data Systems Corp.

that total nearly $200 million, EDS announced Tuesday at the Comdex Fall

2000 trade show in Las Vegas.

The Oklahoma deal is a seven-year, $102 million contract for a new Medicaid

Management Information System with a Web-based interface. With that announcement,

EDS now provides Medicaid support services in 18 states and is actively

searching for more, said Kim McMann, president of business process management

at EDS.

"We rely mostly on word of mouth and the impressive processing times

we offer our client's clients, who are Medicaid recipients, as well with

the providers," McMann said. "We make sure our constituencies are satisfied.

And because these programs are governmentally funded, we need to be sensitive

to those issues, too."

EDS also announced that it has been awarded an eight-year, $92 million

contract in Colorado to Web-enable that state's welfare services and programs.

The new Colorado system will manage the state's eligibility determination

for human services and health care programs, according to an EDS spokesman.
