Wang takes on Getronics name

Getronics Government Solutions LLC

Customers of Wang Government Services Inc. will have to get used to the

company's new name, but they will not see any difference in the company's

service, according to a company official.

Wang Government Services announced Thursday that it has changed its name

to Getronics Government Solutions LLC, reflecting the name of its Amsterdam-based

parent company Getronics NV. Getronics acquired Wang Global in 1999.

Getronics Government Solutions functions as an independent unit, offering

seat management, network and connectivity solutions, and information assurance

services and products.

For U.S. national security reasons, a proxy agreement with the Defense Department

gives an independent board of directors the authority to operate Getronics

Government Solutions on behalf of Getronics.

The name change is intended to more closely align the government-focused

unit with Getronics NV, an international leader in network and desktop services

and solutions, said Marlene Duvall, vice president of marketing at Getronics

Government Solutions.

The company's major prime contracts include the General Services Administration's

Seat Management, the Outsourcing Desktop Initiative for NASA, the Treasury

Department's Seat Management, The Justice Department's Office Automation

Integration Services and the Immigration and Naturalization Services' Facilities

Operation and Hardware Maintenance Support.
