Logicon to probe Reserve vulnerabilities

Logicon Inc. will lead an industry team conducting worldwide network vulnerability

assessments of the Army Reserve Command under a contract announced Monday.

The contract, valued at up to $10 million, includes evaluating Reserve

vulnerabilities, including those relating to information security, information

assurance, and network and systems security.

It also includes evaluating physical and personnel security and vulnerabilities

in regard to chemical, biological and nuclear threats.

The assessments will review the Army Reserve Command's nearly 1,700

units to identify the assets that need to be protected and analyze their

risk to espionage, sabotage, terrorism, damage, misuse and theft.

"While risks cannot be eliminated, vulnerability assessments provide

a deliberate, analytical approach to establishing security requirements

and prioritizing program investments," said Anthony Cascio, Logicon program

manager.

The Reserve Command controls and supports all Army Reserve units within

the United States except for psychological operations and civil affairs

units.

The three-year pact is being executed as a task order under the General

Services Administration's Safeguard program. Logicon is a unit of Northrop

Grumman Corp.
