Bush indicates choice for OIRA chief
John Graham would have oversight of many aspects of IT policy and management
President Bush announced his intention Tuesday to nominate an expert on risk and cost-benefit analysis as the next head of the Office of Management and Budget's Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs.
John Graham, Bush's choice for director of OIRA, will have oversight over many aspects of agency information technology policy and management.
Under the supervision of OMB's deputy director of management, a position Bush has not yet filled, OIRA directs federal policy on matters such as information management, implementation of the Government Paperwork Elimination Act and information security and privacy.
Graham is serving as a professor of policy and decision sciences at the Harvard School of Public Health and is the founding director of the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis.
The last head of OIRA, John Spotila, left at the end of the Clinton administration for a position at GTSI Corp.
