KPMG lands $22 million contract to modernize NIH's 25-year-old administrative system
The National Institutes of Health has awarded a $22 million contract to KPMG Consulting Inc. to modernize its 25-year-old administrative system.
The contract, for one year with three one-year options, will replace an aging system that runs financial, personnel and management systems at the institution with 19,000 employees.
KPMG will replace "an older system that can't be upgraded anymore," said NIH project manager Patrick Williams.
Last September, NIH purchased Oracle Corp.'s E-Business Suite as part of the project to modernize the system. KPMG will configure the software to the agency's needs, according to Kelvin Womack, KPMG's managing director for the NIH account.
The work is scheduled to begin in April.
