GSA adds software management to sked

Two companies that specialize in keeping critical applications running have been added to the General Services Administration schedule.

DbaDirect Inc. offers a portfolio of services to monitor the performance of database management systems, to identify and fix problems and to fine-tune the systems to ward off future problems.

DbaDirect's database administrators do not work at customer sites, instead, they monitor databases over the Internet using BMC Software Inc.'s Patrol management tools and other software.

Customers can select from one of three service levels:

* Informant — Database server monitoring.

* Guardian — Database monitoring plus corrective actions to alarm conditions.

* Controller — Database monitoring, corrective actions, plus proactive database management.

Mercury Interactive Corp., meanwhile, is offering its application performance management software through the GSA schedule of Spectrum Systems Inc., Fairfax, Va.

Mercury's software identifies and fixes performance bottlenecks in network or Web-based applications. The tools monitor application performance, generate alerts when problems arise and diagnose those problems, according to the company.

Spectrum, which specializes in network management and security, will work with Mercury Interactive to market the software to Spectrum's government clients, said Ronald Segal, president of Spectrum Systems.
