Citrix creates federal program

Citrix Systems Inc., an application services provider, this week announced it has created a federal systems program charged with expanding sales to federal agencies.

Citrix is expanding its federal account management team, creating a federal systems sales and support program, and launching a marketing program focused on the federal government.

The company also announced that Mark Goldman, formerly an executive in federal program development and management at Alcatel and Silicon Graphics Inc., will serve as program director in Citrix's federal effort.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Citrix, which also handles portal software and services, has several government customers in Europe, including the Norwegian revenue service and the United Kingdom postal service, and aims to repeat those successes in the United States.

"Today, the ability to provide computer users with secure access to applications, content and business processes — either remotely using the Internet or across internal networks — is necessary to ensure the preservation of the investment in legacy hardware, operating efficiency and effective control within federal agencies," Goldman said, adding that Citrix products are well-suited to achieve those goals for federal customers.

Citrix's federal operations will have headquarters in Columbia, Md.
