American Management Systems Inc. has announced an ongoing partnership with
Trillium Software Inc. to deliver data quality solutions to AMS' clients,
with a renewed focus on government markets.
AMS clients can embed Trillium's utilities — especially their data-cleansing
and consolidation functions — in customized applications or install them
as components of an enterprisewide architecture, said Mary Kaye Vavasour,
manager of AMS data quality services. AMS is an international business and
information technology consulting firm.
Vavasour said AMS selected Trillium's data-cleansing tool "because of
the breadth of its functionality and the quality of support that underlies
it." She also said it has been particularly useful in data conversion projects.
For one large, city client, the AMS/Trillium team helped eliminate a
data duplication problem involving millions of name and address records.
"In four months, we reduced the size of the file 90 percent," Vavasour
said. "Without that, the city would have had significant service interruptions."
AMS and Trillium have teamed up on a number of state and federal clients,
including Kentucky, Virginia and "two very large federal agencies" that
could not be named because of nondisclosure agreements, said Len Dubois,
Trillium's vice president of marketing.
"All of our government business is through AMS, which has expertise in that
[arena]," Dubois said, adding that the government business includes experience
at the international level as well. "For government to have the ability
to manage and cleanse data in multiple languages is an enormous asset for
them."
Vavasour said AMS is talking to several state and federal agencies that
are considering using an AMS/ Trillium solution.
