This is in response to "Give entry-level techies a chance."

The government or the individual spent a lot of money to get certification letters, and no one cares about them. Great, but if you really want to put letters behind your name, make it the number of years since 1980 that you have been supporting end users.

That shows skills and experience much more so than the "pay for" letters. I know of several lettered techies who are not worth the cost of the paper the letters are printed upon.

If you really want to know what government jobs are available, fill out an OF-612 resume and search the Office of Personnel Management's USA Jobs site (www.usajobs.opm.gov), Federal Research Service Inc.'s Federal Jobs Central site (www.fedjobs.com), or check out fedamerica.com (a veteran owned and operated site in the Washington, D.C., area). The links are all there.

Also, check out the individual Defense Department recruiting sites: Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine Corps, and the Treasury Department's Coast Guard as well. They all have "Jobs" links for civil service positions. Since it is civil service, they all lead to the same positions.
