MicronPC hopes to 'transport' new government customers with new TransPort XT notebook

MicronPC LLC takes aim at the government and education communities' mobile

workers with its new TransPort XT notebook computer, announced July 9.

Weighing 6.1 pounds and standing 1.3 inches high and 12.4 inches wide, a

well-featured TransPort XT configuration sells for $2,199 and comes equipped

with:

* A mobile Intel Corp. Pentium III 800 MHz processor.

* A 14.1-inch LCD display.

* 128M of PC100 SDRAM.

* A 20G hard drive.

* An 8X variable-speed DVD drive.

* A floppy-disk drive.

"The TransPort XT offers mobile users an innovative portable computer that

integrates a lightweight form factor with the power and expandability of

a desktop replacement solution," said Paul Petersen, vice president of product

marketing and development for MicronPC.

Petersen noted that the TransPort XT has backwards compatibility with TransPort

GX and GX+ products.
