Litigation support for Justice

The Justice Department has selected four companies to provide up to $950 million during the next five years for technical services its lawyers need when they prosecute complicated cases.

Under the Mega2 Automated Litigation Support contract, ACS Government Solutions Group, Aspen Systems Corp., CACI Inc.-Commercial and Labat-Anderson Inc. will provide such services as financial analysis, digital imaging and database indexing. In all, Justice has 150 contract line items to choose from under the contract, not all of which involve information technology.

The contract would enable the department to "manage much larger volumes of case materials and much more complex information much more quickly and to much greater effect than would otherwise be possible," according to Justice officials.

CACI completes ERP entry

Systems integrator CACI International Inc. has completed its acquisition of Digital Systems International Corp. (DSIC), an enterprise resource planning specialist, boosting CACI's ability to compete for large-scale financial and human resource system contracts.

The acquisition was completed Nov. 1, and terms were not disclosed. Officials at Arlington, Va.-based CACI had announced Aug. 13 that they signed a letter of intent to purchase Arlington, Va.-based DSIC. DSIC is a subcontractor in several major Defense Department programs, including the Navy Marine Corps Intranet and the Pentagon's Standard Procurement System.

DSIC also has provided enterprise support to several naval commands where CACI has also been active and has been providing services to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
