Gateway BPA supplies White House

The Office of Homeland Security and others within the Executive Office of the President are using new computers and other components from Gateway Inc., courtesy of a blanket purchase agreement announced Dec. 4.

The White House's Office of Administration awarded the BPA, which is valued at more than $1.7 million over one year. The award includes Gateway portable computers and desktop models with 18-inch flat-panel monitors.

Various departments, including the Office of Homeland Security and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, are using the BPA, Gateway spokeswoman Ruth Rosene said. The BPA was awarded in September and shipments began soon after.

Ted Waitt, Gateway's chairman and chief executive officer, said the company "is proud to supply our government with technology solutions that will help federal employees maximize their productivity."

Gateway's top two federal customers are the Army and the Air Force, Rosene said.
