SRA acquisition aims locally

SRA International Inc., an information technology company, announced Dec.

7 that it has acquired Marasco Newton Group Ltd., a management-consulting

firm with expertise in environmental cleanup.

MNG provides information technology, management and environmental policy

solutions to federal and state governments. A key customer is the Environmental

Protection Agency, where MNG provides land reclamation consulting services

for the Brownfields and Superfund cleanup programs.

Renny DiPentima, president of consulting and systems integration at

SRA International, said the acquisition is intended to help SRA develop

customers in the state and local markets.

MNG "will provide the bridge to state and local markets," DiPentima

said. "This is where I wanted to position us."

Both companies are privately held, and terms of the agreement were not

disclosed. MNG expects revenues to exceed $32 million next year. SRA specializes

in Internet systems development, systems and software engineering, data

mining and e-mail management systems. In 2001, its revenues were $313 million.
