Network Appliance Inc. has started shipping software that enhances the company's existing storage appliance product line
Besides the new NearStore R100 disk system, Network Appliance Inc. has also started shipping software that supports the backup process and enhances the company's existing storage appliance product line.
Among the introductions are:
n SnapVault. Allows snapshots, or copies, of data from multiple storage appliances to be consolidated on a central repository, such as the R100, enabling easy online recovery of data. Prices for a single client and server license range from $25,000 to $150,000, depending on the hardware model.
n MultiStore. Allows administrators to consolidate multiple Unix and Microsoft Corp. Windows servers and domains into one physical storage appliance, instead of requiring separate appliances for each operating system, as before. Prices range from $5,000 to $46,000.
